Since the start of the year, I’ve been taking part in a challenge to post a photo every week on the website 52frames.com. If I’m short on time, it may be a very quick, last minute photo on my phone, or some weeks I put a lot of effort in and really take my time. The theme this week was ‘Dancing’. I decided I would come at the brief from a slightly different angle, and chose to capture a wildlife shot of birds ‘in dance’. I got up for sunrise (4.30am!!) and headed down to a local reservoir, where I found a really magical scene of mist rising up from the water. Out on a little island was a hectic party of various birds that was just what I was looking for. Here’s the shot I submitted for the challenge.

APOY 2020

I’ve also been entering the Amateur Photographer of the Year competition for 2020. The most recently judged round was ‘Up Close and Personal’, a macro photography challenge. I submitted a photo of a Hoverfly and was really pleased to finish in the top 25% – 154th place out of 668 entries. Photo below.
