Wow! I can barely believe that just over a year after starting my photography YouTube channel I’ve already clocked up more than 1,000 subscribers!

Last year I set a challenge for users of the subreddit, Edit My RAW asking for edits of two of my RAW images. I got a fantastic response and so decided to do it again this year. Check out my video in which I showcase some great edits of two of my more recent landscape photos.

Earlier this week I joined Barnsley Photographic Society for an evening photographing birds of prey. The society hired a company to bring the birds and we brought along our cameras and longest lenses to capture some shots of the fantastic, feathery flyers.

Unfortunately the evening was cut short when one of the birds decided to go AWOL! We were in the middle of capturing some in-flight shots of a harris hawk called Storm when he suddenly flew up into a nearby tree to challenge some crows. He then went on to fly away into the distance, something that took the bird’s handlers by surprise. It was a tense hour or so as they had to abandon the photography session, get in their van and drive around the local area trying to find Storm.

My photography channel recently turned one year old!

It’s incredible to think that it has already been a full year since I started the channel. What started as something to stop me getting bored during lockdown and furlough, has become a second full time job! I wouldn’t change a thing though, as I love getting out every week and vlogging about my photography journey.

If you told me last year, that by June 2021 I would have over 800 subscribers, I wouldn’t have believed you! But here I am, on my way to 900 and it’s incredibly humbling and encouraging. I’d like to thank each and every one of my subscribers for “clicking on the big red button”, it’s fantastic to know that all the effort that goes into making the videos provides some interest to others.
